ACTIVITIES OF TDI
Daylong Workshop on Creative Adolescence

A daylong workshop on Creative Adolescence was held on 19 July 2019 at TDI Training Room. The workshop was specially designed for adolescent students for their understanding to deal with mood difficulties, anxiety, depression, and issues related to self-esteem, confidence, and adjustment. This workshop successfully achieved the purpose of bringing change in thoughts and behaviours among adolescents.

   

A group of high school students participated in the workshop. The workshop started at 9:30 am and ended at 5:00 pm. During this time tea, snacks and lunch were served. An attractive crest of participation was presented to the participants distributed by the Director, TDI, Prof. M. Nazmul Haq.

Celebration of the first decade of TDI
TDI celebrated the first decade of its establishment on November 24, 2018. It was an auspicious event of TDI to celebrate the glaring ten years of services provided to teachers, parents, and students. The programme was held at the auditorium of Planning and Development Academy, Dhaka. More than a hundred guests participated on the occasion. The chief guest of the program was  Ms. Rasheda K Chowdhury , Executive Director, CAMPE and Former Advisor of Care Taker Government, Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Ratan Siddiqui, Member NCTB and Ms. Safina Rahman, Former District Governor Rotary Club of Ramna , District 3281 were present on the occasion as special guests. Prof. M. Nazmul Haq, Director of TDI presided the programme . The honorable guests and other members spoke on the occasion regarding various activities of the organization.

     

On this occasion, TDI awarded three secondary schools for their continuous effort to the development of quality education. These schools are Heritage School, Narayanganj, Park International School, Malirbagh, Dhaka and the Methodist English Medium School, Mirpur, Dhaka. TDI also awarded five esteemed working teachers of different schools in Dhaka for their contribution to the development of quality education after receiving training and supervision from TDI. These teachers are Ms. Farzana Haider, Ms. Nishat Hossain, Ms. Mazeda Hasan, Ms. Arjuma Akter Banu, and Ms. Jannatul Ferdous Jui. All the schools and teachers were honored by providing them a beautiful crest through their introduction before the audience.

 

Workshop on Child Management & Wining Mindset
Organized by TDI, Dhaka & PAL, Singapore
Two half-day ‘Workshops on Child Management’ for parents, teachers and educator and a day-long ‘Workshop on Wining Mindset’ for students of 13 to 17 years old were held on 28 and 29 June 2013 at National Academy for Planning and Development with Mr. Ivan Goh, Principle Trainer and Certified Coach, Pan Asia Learning, Singapore. The workshops were brought by Pan Asia Learning (PAL), Singapore in partnership with Teacher Development Institute (TDI), Bangladesh. The workshops consisted of discussion on learning and teaching, lots of humor and lots of activities and certificate giving ceremony.

The Workshops on Child Management was an eye-opener for all parents, teacher and educators. In the workshop Mr. Ivan Goh experienced trainer from Singapore shared with the participants the techniques to build a better relationship between parents & kids and teachers & students. H e discussed the discover style preferences for learning, how to handle the Generation X and Y kids, cyber wellness and addiction that all parents should know. In the full day Workshop on Wining Mindset Mr. Ivan Goh discussed on powerful self-motivation techniques, learning style preference for students, importance of goal setting, how to improve students’ study skill and achieve academic success.


The workshops were inaugurated by Prof. M Nazmul Haq, Director, Teacher Development Institute (TDI). Dr. Golam Hossain, Chirman, Pan Asia Learning, Singapore and Mary Lee, Programme Director & Co-founder, PAL Singapore also presented in the workshops. In his opening speech Prof. Nazmul Haq expressed the expectation that the workshops will shed light on the ways of dealing with children at home and at school and finally to help students to determine their study goals and achieve success in future.

Total 120 parsons were participated in both workshops. Teachers from Academia, South-Point School, Tiny Tots, Daffodil International School, Dhaka Residential Model College, International School Dhaka, London Grace, Agragami Shishu Niketan, Bill Gates international Schools, Belmont International School, Mascot International School, students from Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, Department of Education and Counseling Psychology, University of Dhaka, BRAC University, Oxford International School, Methodist English Medium School, Tiny Tots, Genius Islamic School and College, Chittagong Grammar School, John Wilson School, South-Point School, Viquarunnisa Noon School and College, . Development workers from BRAC, PHULKI, Plan International Bangladesh, Theatre and Media Foundation, DOT Bangladesh, Novartis (BD) Ltd, and some parents were among them.

The participants’ were entertained with door gift, tea, and lunch. At end of the workshop the participants were awarded with certificates.

 

Certificate Giving Ceremony of TDI
A Certificate Giving Ceremony was held in the evening of Saturday, 16 January 2013 at TDI Training Room at Mohammadpur. This event was organized to congratulate and handover the certificates to participants of 4 th Special and Inclusive Education Course and 1 st Research Methodology in Education and Social Science. A total of 21 participants received certificates.

The event was attended by special guests, trainers, participants along with TDI team. Dr. Abu Hamid Latif, Chairperson, BAFFED, Dr. Monzoor Ahmed, Senior Advisor, IED, BRAC University , Md. Mohsin, Tariq Ahsan, Assistant professor, IER, Dhaka University, Sultana Kaniz Fatema, attended the ceremony as special guests. Prof. M Nazmul Haq, Professor of Education, IER, Dhaka University and Director, TDI presided over the event.

Participants received TDI certificates were from CAMPE, PHULKI, BRAC Education Program, Amar Odhikar Campaign, NAEM, IER, Dhaka University , Aparajeyo Bangladesh , Ideal School , Banashree branch. Two participants presented there research proposal at the end of the event. After the certificates giving every one enjoyed the delicious dinner.

 

TDI organized Training Workshop in partnership with Tullow Bangladesh

To provide training on Effective Teaching on English and Mathematics for primary and secondary school teachers a contract has been signed between Tullow Bangladesh Ltd and Teacher Development Institute (TDI) on 14 November 2012. The main purpose of the assignment was to train a group of primary and secondary school teachers of the Schools around Bangora and Gopalnagar Area in Comilla district.

Under this agreement TDI organized and conducted two (five-day long) residential training workshops titled ‘ Training for Effective Teaching on English and Mathematics for the Teachers of the Schools around Bangora and Gopalnagar Area' on from 19-23 January 2013 and 03-07 February 2013. A total of 60 teachers (30 English teachers and 30 Math teachers) from 16 schools were participated in those training workshops. The training programs were held at BACE training centre at Sonargaon Upazila in Narayangonj district near Dhaka , the venue was situated in a nice place under tree shed and bank of a huge lake. TDI provided all the necessary logistics and correspondence to attend the workshops. Tullow Bangladesh Ltd provided necessary fund.

The orientation training programs was participatory in nature and teachers got hands on experience. Teachers got to know many scientific data, teaching-learning methods and techniques related to English & Math which was unknown to them. Teachers did various group-works, peer-works and individual work on these issues. Teachers presented their works on poster presentation.

Teachers enjoyed the workshops very much. We observed very much enthusiasm and passion in them all over the workshops. Some teachers said ‘this training is better than any training they received before.' They want more and more training for them and their students so that they can do something to give their students a better lesson.
